How To Stand In Your Dream

Calling a bird of prey from the east, The man who executes My counsel, from a far country. Indeed I have spoken it; I will also bring it to pass. I have purposed it; I will also do it.

Isaiah 46:11

In recent years Nigeria has gone through several socio-economic crises which have made people speculate several possibilities about the future of the country.

God has a counsel for Nigeria before the country was formed and at the right time, the purpose shall stand. The situation has created many emergency prophets who have come forth with several prophesies including scary ones that have no edification in them.

Meanwhile, there are devices in the hearts of man but never the less the counsel of the Lord that shall stand according to Proverbs 19:21. No matter how dark it is over Nigeria today, that purpose of God must stand.

Now our duty is to find out what that counsel of God is. This can be found in the place of prayer, not on social media which has become a favourite platform for prophesying.

Search from the book of the LORD, and read: Not one of these shall fail; Not one shall lack her mate. For My mouth has commanded it, and His Spirit has gathered them

Isaiah 34:16

We must search. What has the Lord said about Nigeria? God has said many things about Nigeria, the country has gone through great turbulence in the past but has not scattered because all His counsel must stand. The truth is that heaven and earth shall pass away but not a jot of His word shall go unfulfilled. I make bold to say that God’s purpose is the only reason Nigeria is still running.

Isaiah 34:16 revealed that none of His words shall fail, none shall lack her mate. The prophecy and the fulfillment operate as a pair. Like a piece of magnet and a piece of metal, the prophecy about the destiny of Nigeria at the right time shall find its mate.

No prophecy shall want its fulfillment because the mouth of the Lord has spoken it. That is why Nigeria is still around till today because certain prophecies must match their fulfillment just as the mouth of the Lord has spoken.

The duty of believers who are standing in the place of prayer is to look for those prophecies about Nigeria and do warfare with them for such words to locate their mates (fulfillment). This is why we pray.

We are not praying for magic to happen or to force the hands of God to do what His mouth has not spoken, it doesn’t work that way. The will of God is done when His word come to pass, the will of God is done when prophecies match or marry their fulfillment.

As individuals we are to wait for certain prophecies/promises of God to be fulfilled and while we wait, nothing can remove us from His promises except we are believing for what He has not promised. As a believer in His will, nothing can remove you if you are that person standing strong to see God’s promises fulfilled in your life.

25 And behold, there was a man in Jerusalem whose name was Simeon, and this man was just and devout, waiting for the Consolation of Israel, and the Holy Spirit was upon him. 26 And it had been revealed to him by the Holy Spirit that he would not see death before he had seen the Lord’s Christ. 27 So he came by the Spirit into the temple. And when the parents brought in the Child Jesus, to do for Him according to the custom of the law, 28 he took Him up in his arms and blessed God and said:

29 “Lord, now You are letting Your servant depart in peace,
According to Your word; 30 For my eyes have seen Your salvation 31 Which You have prepared before the face of all peoples, 32 A light to bring revelation to the Gentiles, And the glory of Your people Israel.” –
Luke 2:25-29

Simeon did not die until he saw the Lord’s Christ. The Spirit of God moved him that day to the temple the day Jesus was brought to the assembly. Why? It was because he was standing strong in prayer and trusting God that what was promised must find fulfillment. It will just happen! You would never be able to explain it…just because you have aligned with what the mouth of the Lord has spoken, it will happen.

God’s specialty is in making you stand in your dream if you believe. If you are waiting on Him in faith and not wavering like a double minded person who is unstable in all his ways.

5If any of you lack wisdom, let him ask of God, that giveth to all men liberally, and upbraideth not; and it shall be given him. 6But let him ask in faith, nothing wavering. For he that wavereth is like a wave of the sea driven with the wind and tossed. 7For let not that man think that he shall receive any thing of the Lord. 8A double minded man is unstable in all his ways.- James 1:5-8

Like in Simeon’s case, it may only take time, but His faithfulness will cause you to someday stand in your dream…the dream you caught in His word. It is yours!

Back to Nigeria, for your prayer for the country to find fulfillment, you must look through the word of God. When you pray with the word of God you are actually starting with the answer.

I remember some elementary mathematics text books; there is a segment at the back that has the answers to all the questions asked in each chapter. You could actually know the answer but you need to know the workings.

When you start your prayers from the word of God, from His promises, you are starting with the answer then you advance to the steps which include intersession and waiting.

You may ask: Is Nigeria in the Bible? My answer is yes. Same way we are seeds of Abraham by faith, the same way you can appropriate God’s promises in the Bible for Nigeria as you are so ‘inspired’ by the Holy Spirit.

What has God said about Nigeria? He will not negate it; be it the Logos or the Rhema, God is committed if it is His word you are dealing with.

There would be challenges just like we are facing now, there may be darkness and even gross darkness over the land, the sun shall shine again, there shall be rain and there shall be flourishing again except God has not said it.

You may ask again: What about those people who don’t live to see the fulfillment of God’s word on what they are believing Him for? Then you ask them what promises, what prophecies were they standing on? Did they see it? Did they believe it? Did they wave?  Did they stand strong? Did they do warfare with the prophecy? Did they succumb to fear and unbelief or did they just sit round it?

Remember when the Lord Jesus was walking on the water and Peter desired to join him. He said ‘come’ and the law of nature was suspended for Peter. He walked on the water until he saw the waves and succumbed to fear, then he started sinking.

It is never automatic when God gives a word. There is what to do on the human side. It is never automatic to see the fulfillment of prophecy but it is automatic you see the fulfillment if you do the following workings.

  1. Be careful enough to find what God has said concerning a situation.
  2. Take time to meditate on what God has said.
  3. Be sure to engage in warfare in the place of prayer with what God has said.

God is faithful and will make you to stand in your dream. That was the reason He told Joshua, the book of the Law shall not depart  from his mouth.

This book of the law shall not depart out of thy mouth; but thou shall mediate therein day and night, that thou mayest observe to do according to all that is written therein: for then thou shalt make thy way prosperous, and then thou shalt have good success.- Joshua 1:8

A good example happened in the time of Daniel. He understood by books what God was going to do.

…in the first year of his reign I, Daniel, understood by the books the number of the years specified by the word of the LORD through Jeremiah the prophet, that He would accomplish seventy years in the desolations of Jerusalem.- Daniel 9:2

One good thing about God is that when a prophecy is to be fulfilled, He engineers people to stand to do warfare by engaging the forces of darkness whose special duty is to make God a liar.

He engaged with what God has spoken earlier. He found out from books what God was going to get done according to the prophet.

What has God spoken about you? It is your responsibility to inquire. Today we find people seeking prophecies from spiritual houses just to know the mind of God which they can have access to by themselves in the place of prayer and by searching through the word of God.

Like mentioned earlier, it is not automatic for prophecies to be fulfilled especially when believing God for something. You must get to a point you are resolute. For instance God told Eli his descendants would be priests forever, he was careless and God had to change His mind. Find out what God has spoken about you, about your nation, stand by it and live responsibly.

Eli allowed indiscipline and he failed in the place of waiting on the Lord. God is not unfaithful; you cannot stand strong on His promises and not see the fulfillment.

Note that God is always in need of partners. I mentioned earlier when a prophecy is to be fulfilled; God engineers people of understanding to partner with Him. He always needs human involvement to birth some fulfillment.

Remember He told Abraham in Genesis 15:13 his descendants were to spend 400 years in Egypt. When it was about time, the Egyptians changed their stay to slavery. The task masters increased their pains. Later the Bible recorded that they groaned by reason of the pain and their groaning went up to God.

So God heard their groaning, and God remembered His covenant with Abraham, with Isaac, and with Jacob.- Exodus 2:24

I want to see this groaning as intercession to God for a reminder. Then God sent Moses. This period in Nigeria may be that time of groaning, a time children of God must call upon God for intervention. I maintain that God needs partners whose prayers must match their daily confessions and actions.

Remember the three points: Find out what has been said or written about you, about Nigeria, meditate on it and believe it, do warfare with it in the place of prayer and watch it come to pass.

Like Simeon, something will just happen…I call it a divine coincidence. It will happen and God would make you stand in your dream to His own glory alone.
