How Police Thwart Terrorists Attack On Yasore Village

…kill two, recovers AK 47 rifles

Attempt by daredevil terrorists to attack Yasore Village at Batsari Local Government Area of Katsina state on Wednesday, 2nd March, 2023 was frustrated as two of the insurgents were killed by the police.

The failed attack which happened about 0730hrs, after a distress call was received led to sporadic shooting by the terrorists with AK 47 rifles before the police overwhelmed them.

However, a combined assaulted led by the Divisional Police Officer of Batsari Division, led a team of Police and Vigilante group to the area and engaged the hoodlums in a fierce gun duel and successfully repelled them.

When the dust was settled, the following were recovered from the spot. They are
two corpses of neutralized terrorists, two AK 47 rifles, five AK 47 rifle’s magazines, 97 pieces of 7.62mm ammunition of AK 47 rifles, two ITEL GSM Phones, and a bunch of criminal charms.

Others included a black bag containing the sum of N2,580, a lighter, a pen and a blue veil.

According to the SP Gambo Isah, spokesperson Katsina Police Command in a statement said that “Many of the terrorists were reasonably believed to have been neutralized and/or escaped the scene with gunshot wounds.

However, he added that “Search parties are combing the nearest bushes with a view to arresting them and/or recovering their dead bodies.

“The Command is appealing to members of the communities around the area to report to the nearest police station any person found or seen with a suspected injury.”

Meanwhile, the Commissioner of Police, Katsina state Command, in charge of elections, CP Koo Yusuf, commended the efforts of the Police and the vigilante for the display of uncommon courage, gallantry and professionalism in dealing with the hoodlums, please.
