The proactivity of the Delta State Police Command has led to a successful operation against criminals after the raiding of some black spots in the state.
On the 14th June, 2021 about 1130hrs, Eagle-Net Special Squad, while on routine patrol/stop and search duty along Ughelli-Warri express way intercepted a Toyota Picnic car; navy blue in colour with Reg. No. AAA 464 YA with six male occupants.
The countenance of some of the passengers crave suspicion hence they were all asked to come down for a thorough search.
It was gathered that in the process of searching, three locally made pistols, two handsets, one ofmobile phone, power bank and the cash sum of N316, 640.00 were recovered from two of the occupants.
The two suspects, Kelvin Godstime 20 years of Upper Afisere in Ughelli North Local Governmemt Area and Samson Ekutu, 23 years of Ugbogeme of Udu LGA were arrested.
In another development, the Divisional Police Officer, Okpanam Division in a response to a distressed call received that an armed robber had entered into the house of the caller (name withheld) armed with a gun and was forcing his victims that do not have cash to transfer money to his account, arrested the suspect.
Confirming the arrest, the Delta State Police spokesperson, DSP Edafe Bright said that on the 13th June, 2021 about 2310hrs, the DPO swiftly deployed his patrol teams to the area and arrested one Emmanuel Peace, 18 years old with a Dummy Wooden Gun.
It was disclosed that the suspect had already successfully forced an aged couple to transfer the sum of N600,000 to an account number owned by one Anwanga Abasi Nathaniel Udo.
Other exhibit recovered from the suspect included two knives and one torchlight.
Investigation is ongoing with a view arresting other members of the gangs
The Delta State Commissioner of Police, CP Ari Muhammed Ali, has continued to press it on DPO’S and tactical commanders that they must key into intensive policing, stop and search, regular patrols and raiding of black spots to bring the criminals to book.
