As the military onslaught against Boko Haram and ISWAP continues in the North East Nigeria, the military authority has successfully rescued 241 people from the terrorists after overpowering the criminals.
The troops from Army Super Camp 11 Gambouru under Sector 1 of Operation Lafiya Dole, also neutralised 12 Boko Haram Terrorists at Mudu Town in Borno State.
Those rescued from Boko Haram captivity, Nationalwire learnt consist of 105 Women and 136 Children. Various items recovered from them included four BHT flags, one motorcycle, two bicycles, one amplifier and two sewing machines.
In the same operation, Maj Gen John Enenche, Coordinator, Defence Media Operations, Defence Headquarters disclosed in Abuja that troops of 151 Battalion successfully killed several Boko Haram Terrorists (BHTs) including several suicide bombers, while numerous others fled with gun shot wounds.
It was learnt that the criminal elements had mounted 10 Gun Trucks and attempted to simultaneously attack the troops’ locations at Banki Junction and Firgi in Bama LGA of Borno State under the guise of darkness.
Unlucky for them, the troops overpowered them with superior firepower and captured one Cobra Armoured Personnel Carrier, one Dushka Anti-Aircraft Gun, one AK 47 Rifle and one Fabrique Nationale Rifle.
Other items captured include three Hand Grenades, two AK 47 Rifle magazines, one FN Rifle magazine, 78 rounds of 12.7mm Anti-Aircraft ammunition, 25 rounds of 7.62mm Special ammunition and 25 rounds of fabricated 7.62mm ammunition from the criminals.
In view of their gallantry, the Chief of Army Staff, Lt Gen Tukur Buratai commended the troops for their professionalism and good conduct during those operations and charge them to sustain the momentum with a view to eradicating the terrorists from the North East.
