Guber Election: Deal Decisively With Criminal Elements – Commander Urges Troops

In preparation for the gubernatorial and State Houses of Assembly Elections in Zamfara State, the Commander, 1 Brigade Nigerian Army/Sector 1 Joint Task Force (North West) Operation Hadarin Daji Brigadier General S Ahmed has charged Security Agencies in the state not to hesitate to deal decisively with anybody who attempts to disrupt the smooth conduct of the election.

He made this charge on Thursday, 16th March, 2023, while addressing members of security agencies in Zamfara state at the Headquarters, 1 Brigade Complex, Gusau shortly after a joint show of force conducted at Gusau metropolis with the Military and other sister security agencies in the state.

In a statement by the Acting Assistant Director, Army Public Relations, 1 Brigade, Captain Yahaya Arama Ibrahim said that the commander noted that the show of force was important to scare off criminal elements planning to disrupt the elections and deny them freedom of movement.

Brig Gen Ahmed further disclosed that the exercise would boost the confidence of voters, allaying fears of intimidation and harassment before, during and after the elections.

Gen Ahmed urged the security agencies to do their best to ensure they provide a conducive atmosphere for a violence-free election.

He also tasked the officers and men to provide adequate protection for members of the National Youth Service Corps, INEC staff and other stakeholders on election duty during the election.

Brigadier General S Ahmed also declared that saboteurs wouldn’t be tolerated in the upcoming general elections in the state.

He implored members of all the security agencies to work in synergy to ensure the overall goal is achieved during the election.
