Governing Council FUT Minnna Approves the appointment of Prof. Yahaya A. Iyaka, as DVC, (Administration)

The Governing Council of the Federal University of Technology, Minna has approved the appointment of Professor Yahaya Ahmed Iyaka of the Department of Chemistry, School of Physical Sciences as the  Deputy Vice Chancellor, (Administration) designate.

The Registrar of the Institution , Mrs. Victoria Kolo, in a letter
conveying the appointment disclosed that the Council, approved the
appointment  in its 122nd  meeting held on Thursday March 9, 2017.

The appointment is for a period of years in first instance is with effect
from April 25, 2017.

Born on January 10, 1968, Prof. Iyaka hails from Bids, Niger state . He had his early education at Government Model Primary School, Bida (from 1974-1980) , attended Federal Government College Ilorin, Kwara state  between 1980 and 1985 before proceeding to Usman Danfodiyo University Sokoto, where he obtained his BSC degree in Chemistry in 1992 .

He obtained a Masters degree in Analytical Chemistry from University of
Ibadan in 1998 and proceeded to University of Abuja for his P.h. D .  also
in Analytical Chemistry in 2006.

Prof. Iyaka joined the services of the Federal University of Technology ,
Minna in 2002 as an Assistant Lecturer  and rose through the ranks to
become a Professor of Chemistry on October 1, 2015.

The newly appointed Deputy Vice Chancellor(Administration) has held various administrative positions among which are Head of Department, Chemistry from 2015 to date, Deputy Dean, Students Affairs Division, 2006 to 2010, Dean Students Affairs 2010- 2013 and Post Graduate Prograames Coordinator 2006-2010.

He has also served as Member, Committee of Deans, Senate Representative on Endowment Fund. He has published many local and International Journals .

Prof. Iyaka is a member, Chemistry Society of Nigeria (CSN) and he is
happily married with children.
