The Goodluck Jonathan Foundation (GJF) extends its congratulations to the newly elected leadership of the African Union (AU) on their successful election.
The Foundation expresses its confidence that the new leadership will continue to champion democratic governance, economic integration, and conflict resolution at a critical moment of Africa’s development journey.
In a statement made available to newsmen by the GJF’s Communications Officer, Mr Wealth Dickson Ominabo the Executive Director of the Foundation, Ms Ann Iyonu, was quoted reiterating the Foundation’s commitment to working closely with the African Union in addressing key regional and continental challenges.
The statement reads in parts: “As the continent faces evolving challenges and opportunities, we reaffirm our support for the AU’s vision of a united, prosperous, and peaceful Africa, as outlined in Agenda 2063: The Africa We Want.
“We are confident that the new leadership will continue to champion democratic governance, economic integration, and conflict resolution—critical areas for Africa’s progress.
“The GJF remains committed to working closely with the African Union in addressing key regional and continental challenges, including, Strengthening democracy and electoral integrity to enhance political stability and governance, Promoting peace building and conflict resolution through diplomatic mediation and preventive diplomacy, Supporting economic empowerment and youth engagement to drive inclusive development, and advancing regional integration and cooperation for Africa’s collective growth.”
Ms Iyonu emphasised the Foundation’s willingness to collaborating with the AU leadership, regional bodies, and stakeholders to achieve the aspirations of Agenda 2063 and foster a future where Africa is self-reliant, peaceful, and globally competitive.
She added: “Once again, we congratulate the newly elected Chairperson, H.E. Mahamoud Ali Youssouf, the Commissioner for Political Affairs, Peace and Security; H.E Ambassador Bankole Adeoye and other Commissioners, and all members of the AU leadership and wish them success in their tenure.
