Laughter Foundation Lagos is a church reputable for assisting families seeking the fruit of the womb from God. Over the years, countless numbers of families have traced their joy to the ministry headed by revered man of God, Pastor Gbenga Oso who in this interview told journalists that the ministry was strategically positioned to provide spiritual support for people believing God for children. DAYO EMMANUEL here reports. Excerpts:
God has been using you in assisting people get children for many years now. So it’s no longer a new thing to you. But how do you still feel that Mr. Bode Ayo-Phillips who has been trusting God since 1987, 30 years ago, came to your church just January 2016 and this year February 2017 he’s already a father of twins. How do you feel?
Well, I think I feel elated, happy. There’s no way to describe my joy. And this is what happens here at Laughter Foundation all the time.
In this particular instance of Mr Ayo-Phillips, can you tell us what his problem was that prevented him from procreating?
Well, there is one particular thing I can say. This church is basically established by God to pray for people searching for children. Because this church is specifically for that, if someone has been going to other places that are not meant for that, that person might not get the right result. But coming here, a church that God deliberately established for such people, when someone comes to that place, things become easier. It’s like going to a specialist hospital that is meant to treat an ailment. A specialist hospital will be different from a general practitioner. So God established LF as a specialist church to cater for people looking for children. Almost twenty years ago, that was what God told me when He asked me to start this ministry. God told me it was for people seeking children, nothing more than that. So I started, and at a point, I wanted to deviate, to do other things, and God said no, this is not what I called you for. I called you to pray for people that have done everything a human being can do to have children, and they were not successful, they’ve gone to hospitals, they’ve had treatments that other people had and got results and were not able to get a result, please face those people and let them know that what other things cannot do, God can do. So that’s why I believe when he came here, he had the result very quickly.
We heard that you have something called twins’ salad. What is it?
Well, there are many things we do that God asked us to do. Many things the Holy Spirit asks us to do to make what we’re praying for happen. In the Bible, there was a case of a man who was blind from the womb, you know what Jesus did, he marched on the ground, made clay out of it, put it on the man’s eyes and asked him to go to the pool of Siloam and wash his face and the man was healed. So Jesus used something to bring about that healing. I believe that’s what the Holy Spirit asked Him to do. And the Holy Spirit also asks us to do some things. So twins’ salad is you just bring some fruits, apples, cucumber, to church, and we pray into it, nothing more than that. I stand on the altar and pray into the fruits that people brought. It’s not that they buy it here, or I go to touch it, no. I stand on the altar and thousands of people bring their fruits and I pray that the anointing of the Holy Spirit will enter into the fruits and that as they eat, the anointing that has entered into the fruits will make their bodies able to create babies and that’s how it works.
Apart from twins’ salad, what other methods do you use?
We have something we call the Balm of Gilead. In Jeremiah chapter 8, verse 22, we read about the Balm of Gilead. Now, Gilead was a city in Old Israel. Now, there was a balm there that healed people of any ailment they had. So we ask people to bring one, two bottles of water and I stand on the altar and pray into it that the anointing of the Holy Spirit will enter into it and as people drink them, the anointing in the water will heal their body of any disease, maybe something that hasn’t been allowing them have babies. They will then be healed and get results. And it has been happening. We’ve had so many testimonies in that regard. There was even an instance where a baby didn’t cry after birth and even after the doctors and nurses had tried all they can. Then the father remembered that I have my Balm of Gilead in the car and they poured it into the baby and he cried and everyone shouted holy water.
When people are searching for children, we hear they do many desperate things, including eating the faeces of other people. How do you feel about this?
Well, we don’t do that here because everything we do here is what you see in the Bible. And I’ve given you two instances from the Bible. We don’t do anything that’s outside the Word of God. And we don’t do anything against the Word. When someone says you should go and be eating feaces and all that, that is bad. I heard someone say some people will tell people to drink their own urine. Those things are not right. We can’t find that in the Bible. People come here with a lot of issues when it comes to child bearing and they get results and it’s simply just prayers, nothing more. We have somebody that was here, married for 35 years, no child. She came here and got pregnant. By the time she had the baby, she was close to 60. Woman, not man. If it was a man, you can say a man can have a child at any time. But a woman getting to be 50 and all that would have been too old. So at 59, she had a baby here, when everybody had told her there was no hope for her. When I went for the naming, her mates that she had in her former church before she came here, were already grandmothers. It’s God that gave her a child here, and I told her that I liked her faith, that at that age, she still continued to believe.
What is your message for Christendom?
My main message is that people should be Godly and live Godly lives. The Bible says righteousness exalts a nation and sin is a reproach to any people. If all Christians are Godly, this country will be greater than this. Here in this church, I preach about Godliness all the time, because that is the key. Having children, yes we want to have children, it’s our major focus, but if we have all the children we need and we go to hell, what have you gained? Nothing. The Bible says what shall it profit a man if he shall gain the whole world and lose his soul. If somebody is a billionaire and has so many children, lacks nothing, but didn’t serve God and then dies and goes to hell which will be for eternity, what’s the point, so we give attention to Godliness here. So my main message to Christendom is that everybody should live a Christ-like life. In your office, at home, in your community. Let people know that you are a Christian. If we all do that, the nation will definitely be better than this.
