It was an excited crowd that greeted the arrival of the former governor of Ogun State, Otunba Gbenga Daniel to the Palace of the Awujale of Ijebuland, Oba Sikiru Adetona, in Ijebu Ode for the annual New Year prayer session on Monday.
The Former Governor of Ogun State, who is also the Director General of the Atiku Presidential Campaign Organisation, at the event, called on Nigerians to continue to pray for the peace of the Nation and support Former Vice President Atiku Abubakar to win the Presidential race to halt the decline in the status of Nigeria in the comity of Nations.
Otunba Daniel, who expressed hope in a better Nigeria urged the people not to relent but continue to work for the betterment of the nation despite the prevailing situation facing the Country.
He said “Atiku remains the best candidate to save Nigeria from total collapse, stressing that the Country will be better, if we all shun sentiments and take the love of Nigeria above every other consideration by voting the PDP Presidential Flag bearer.
Former Governor Daniel also prayed for good health and long life for the Awujale of Ijebuland.
The new year service which brought together prominent Ijebu indigenes was attended by the Olori Omoba of Ijebuland Otunba Subomi Balogun, the Olisa of Ijebu Ode and the APC Gubernatorial candidate in the State, Prince Dapo Abiodun among others.
Otunba Daniel was well received by an excited crowd of people who went into a frenzy forgetting that it was a prayer session as shouts of “OGD” rented the air.
It will be recalled that Vice President Yemi Osibajo yesterday paid a courtesy call to the monarch.
