Gas Explosion At Fagba Junction, Lagos Suburb
There was pandemonium Monday evening at about 7:30pm when a vehicle conveying gas cylinders exploded around Fagba junction area along Iju Road, Ifako-Ijaiye Local Government Area of Lagos State.
According to an eye witness who took to Twitter to announce his escape via his Twitter handle @fk149,
Another Twitter user announced @Kemiakinroye @Gidi_Traffic#ALERT: there is a burning tanker around ALAMUTU not far from FAGBA bus stop IJU. If u can avoid IJU ROAD for now pls do.
Also, another eye witness took to Twitter to announce after the incidence via his handle
However, an observer said, “The advice to avoid Iju road for now may not be apt as there are no other alternatives, not on a busy Monday evening when many are returning home from the day’s businesses. They can only wait for the area to be cleared as many are still traveling to Ogun State this night through that route.”
Iju road is serving commuters both in Lagos and Ogun States as the access road to the Gateway State.
Meanwhile, relevant authorities from the Lagos State government have arrived the scene to ensure safety, law and order.
Disaster management has been swift in Lagos State home to over 20 million residence for some years. Just on Friday, a helicopter crashed into a compound at the Opebi-Ikeja area of the state killing three crew members on board.
The state governor, Mr. Olusola Sanwo-Olu later visited the scene of the crash to ensure Lagosians and residence of the area of the efforts of the government to secure lives and property via prompt disaster management.
Meanwhile, details of the Fagba explosion are still scanty as at the time of filling this report.
