Former FIDA Chair Unveils NGO

Immediate past chairperson of the Federation of international women Lawyers (FIDA), Bayelsa state chapter, Barrister Mrs. Dise Ogbise Tuesday unveiled her NGO, Dise Ogbise foundation (DOF) in Yenagoa, the state capital.

Ogbise who now chairs the Sagbama branch of the Nigeria Bar Association in her address said the rationale behind the establishment of the NGO is to continue contributing to the growth and development of society having served as former FIDA chairperson.

The Sagbama NBA boss reiterated that through DOF, she would reach out to women, children and the vulnerable by providing decent living standards in the society.

According to Ogbise, her foundation stands for Justice and security, stressing that she would carry out advocacy to achieve her goals and objectives as well as defend the defenseless.

Speaking to Newsmen shortly after unveiling the NGO, member representing Sagbama constituency III and chairman, committee on information, Bayelsa state house of Assembly, Hon. Salo Adikumo said the establishment of DOF is apt, stressing that the menace of teenage crime and other. Social vices is on the increase in the society, emphasizing that through the Dise Ogbise foundation and other sister NGOs such threats could be curtailed through ethical reorientation and advocacy.

Also speaking, the state commissioner of Police, Joseph Mukan represented by ACP Agans- Irabor commended Ogbise for her timely initiative, cautioning youths against crime and criminality.

The CP advised against the bearing of more children than necessary by couples, maintaining that a high percentage of crimes and criminality perpetrated in the state today and the Niger Delta, in general, are traceable to improper parental care for children, saying if NGOs like DOF and other well-meaning individuals report and partner the security agencies, social vices will be minimized in the state.

The unveiling ceremony featured Bayelsa born musical arts like Asu Ekiye, DA Emperor and Simeon E. others were Black Geez, Mera Owili, Elder Dempster and Dave pat all of which who sang the theme song for the NGO entitled: “when Artistes sing Against social vices”.
