Female Gunrunner Arrested For Supplying Bandits Ammunition In Zamfara

A female Gunrunner identified as Gaje Abdullah of Madachi Village, who specializes in supplying ammunition to bandits and other criminal gangs have been arrested in Zamfara State by the police.

Disclosing the arrest on Thursday in Gusau, spokesperson of the command, SP Mohammed Shehu said that on the 29th November, 2022, Police Tactical Operatives acted on intelligence information and arrested the suspect.

Gaje is said to be a notorious Gunrunner that specialses in transporting Arms and Ammunition to a notorious bandit kingpin Known as Dawa.

The said kingpin has been a notorious bandit leader terrorising the innocent people of Zamfara and neighbouring states.

It was learnt that the suspect has confessed her involvement in the crime as further investigation is progressing.

Also arrested were seven suspects who are involved in banditry, arms supply, intimidation to wit extortion and rescuing of 14 Kidnapped Victims after spending 50 days in captivity.

However, six suspects were also nabbed for criminal conspiracy, intimidation to wit extortion and recovery of N700,000 as part of levies they collected from the villages.

The suspects: Jamilu Mohammed of Gadar Manya village; Zayyanu Barmo of Manya Babba village; Abubakar Usman of Mandau Village; Lauwali Girkau of Girkau village; Sala Girkau of Girkau village; and Abubakar Yahaya of Tungar Mani Village All in Anka LGA, are all males.

It was learnt that on 29th November, 2022 about 1615hrs, Police Tactical operatives arrested six suspects who pretended as bandits to place levies on their host communities.

As a result, they collected millions of naira through a bank account they created for the purpose.

In the course of police’s investigation, all the suspects confessed to the crime and futher stated that part of their criminal activities was to send threatening message to villages asking to contribute and pay money to them or face attack.

They further confessed of receiving millions of naira from five different communities. Discreet investigation led to the recovery of the sum of N700,000 as part of levies they collected from the affected villages.

Effort is being made to make further arrest and recovery before being charged to court for prosecution.

In addition, police Tactical Operatives in collaboration with Vigilante rescued abducted 15 victims by bandits terrorist at Dike village in Funtua LGA of Katsina State.

While carrying out a search and rescue operation at Sabon Garin Dustin Kaura forest in Danjibga district of Tsafe LGa, the victims were rescued hale and hearty; taken to the hospital for medical check, debriefed by the Police detectives and handed over their families.

The Commissioner of Police, CP Kolo Yusuf commended the Police operatives and vigilante for the successful rescue operation, and reiterates the Command’s continuous determination to rid the state of criminal activities and apprehend criminal elements committing heinous crimes across the state.
