A Minna magistrate court in Niger state has fixed 7th March, 2018 for further mention in a case of culpable homicide against one Umar Wakili a farmer of Sabon Gida in the Gbako Local Government Area of the state
The accused person allegedly killed his daughter ln – law Talatu Mohammed, through accidental discharge of his dane gun sometimes in November last year.
The Police First Information Report( FIR) stated that the accused person when returning from his farm on the fateful day with firewood on his motorcycle and with his Dane gun on his shoulder .
And on his arrival at home, he claimed that the dane gun accidentally discharged and hit the deceased on her chest and died on the spot.
The Police Prosecutor, Sergeant Mohammed ilimi told the court that investigation into the case was still on going and prayed the court for adjournment to enable the police duplicate the case file after which it would be sent to the state’s ministry of justice for legal advice.
Presiding Magistrate, Alhaji Hamza Muazu therefore adjourned the case for further mention and ordered that the accused to be remanded in prison custody.
The offence is punishable under section 221 of the Penal code.
