Family Seeks Support for Boy Born Without Anus

The family of 16-year-old Waris Abidoye, who resides in the Ipaja area of Lagos State, Nigeria is appealing to Nigerians for assistance in funding a crucial corrective surgery for their son, who was born without an anus.

Waris’ father, Olabode Saheed Abidoye an indigene of Kwara State shared their ongoing struggle with National Wire recently.

“He was born that way (without anus) and we have been seeking help for many years,” Abidoye said.

The family has been frequenting the Lagos University Teaching Hospital (LUTH) in Ìdí Araba where the case was handled initially and now seeks treatment at the General Hospital, Idi Araba.

According to him, Waris can’t join his peers in school because of a stench that oozes out of him.

However, they face significant financial challenges in affording the necessary surgery.

“We have been struggling to raise the money for a corrective surgery for many years and now he’s growing up,” Abidoye said.

“Initially the amount we were charged was about N350,000 which we could not afford then and now we were told we would need N700,000 not inclusive of other bills.

“In all, everything may run towards N1,200,000 to include transportation, feeding and rehabilitation,” he lamented.

Abidoye, who works as a security guard at Okeagbe Estate in Ojodu, Lagos and his wife, a petty trader, also face accommodation challenges in their residence at Ikola-Ilumo in Ipaja, Alimosho Local Government Area of Lagos State.

The Soldiers of Christ Bible Mission, Ojodu and Ofada branches have been supporting the family.

“The church has been helping my family over this boy and our upkeep the little they can and we are very grateful,” Abidoye said.

The family is now appealing to kind-hearted Nigerians for financial assistance to enable Waris to undergo the much-needed corrective surgery and live a better life.

Waris was born in Lagos without an anus 16 years ago, his left abdomen was drilled where he passes waste and reason a corrective surgery is mandatory.
