No doubt the kingdom of God on earth is in need of kingdom minded people who would represent the purpose of God in every field of human endeavor. One of these men is Obus Zalee Brodor who has influenced hundreds of young talents from over 300 churches in Nigeria. Recently, the Christian Talent Community (CTC), a group coordinated by Obus Zalee comprising of young gospel artistes, Christian comedians, instrumentalists and other talents, came up with an album; an audio music compilation CD of 18 tracks from various artistes under the label of The Father’s Company. DAYO EMMANUEL was at the launch in Lagos and here reports.
Excerpts:
How do you feel about the success of today’s event?
It’s not feeling, I’m not feeling at all. I’m already in a different realm. I’m fulfilled because whatever you do in the public the wind catches hold of it and it goes into a realm you don’t know. There are six, God is in the first galatcial we are in the sixth. Whatever you do in the open all galacticals know about it and I feel we are all in all realms. God says I send forth my word and it fulfils what I sent it for, this is what has happened now. This same time again as we are talking you’ll be amazed at how many online televisions, online radios would be talking about it and accomplishing this in a very short time.
Now you are mentoring young artistes you are mentoring them with a specific purpose, how are you sure they would walk the path you want them to walk?
The abuse of a thing does not stop its use. The fact that some might fail does not mean you should still not put in your best. Jesus knew that some of us would steal he still died for us. Can you imagine that, but he knew after stealing for a while you are going to come back. There were many who were Christians and not Christians again, he still died for them. The conviction I have is that God does not change and if I know that God does not change I don’t think I should change my stand against these children. Many of them have killed me and I woke up again and I still believe in them because the love we practice is bigger than any other love. It is the love of Christ. That’s how I feel.
I’m really particular about some of these artistes you are promoting. Is there a mechanism to make them give back to this dream, the CTC sometime soon?
They will. To be a visioner is to die over and over again. A time comes like I won’t mention some of them, there were two of them who came to me. They sir can you send your account number? One sent N10,000 I didn’t know, the other one sent my wife N10,000. That money might be small but it is a huge statement, some of them understand this but the most important thing is do I understand what God calls me to do? It is not the response the children should give back to me. If I’m raising them for them to feed me is an error. My raising them is to first obey God, their feeding me is to first obey God so it’s left for who is obeying God and who is not obeying God. The fact that they are not obeying God should not say I should not obey God. I should first show the practical example, this is what is missing in the church. If every pastor knows this they would give irrespective of what the children become.
From every inference it means gospel music is always at the background, at the rear of secular music, how do you feel?
It is a misconception. And it is a perception by the practitioners. I prefer faith to hope. Hope tells you tomorrow while faith tells you today. Every man that tells you he wants to do gospel music should sign it, lock the door and throw the key away. Dem no dey tink am. When you dey tink am, dem dey get alternatives. The Bible says a double minded man is unstable in all his ways, not one but all his ways. The reason some of us fail is that we fail to be excellent. When you want to do a thing for God you must be excellent, you must avoid anything mediocre. The word excellence is also based on individual definition. Excellence is not spending N1m to produce a song, excellence is hearing God and you know this is God. No matter how you come up with it, once you play it, you should feel the anointing, then you can now add craft to it.
It’s a very big issue now you are bringing out original music and in the past you have had a very bad copyright issue, you have experienced it yourself. How do you intend to safeguard these original music? What if these big boys hijack these songs?
My perspective is very different. If big boys take my songs and get bigger, that means I’m bigger than them, that is one, then two, Christianity is about evangelism. Only you cannot win the souls. If somebody takes from my song and blesses another soul then it means I am fruitful. One thing you can also do is that you can register your songs. For example one thing God told me is don’t charge churches when you go to minister. I don’t charge churches no church can pay me, I repeat no church can pay me. You know who pays me? The owner of the church, God. So I don’t go with the mind that the church will give me 100k, they cannot pay me, not they will not, but they cannot if you give me 5billion that is not my worth. If you have that mindset you will serve God with a big heart. However, men were born with a close fist, any pikin wen you bon, him hand close but God wen create us Him hand open. So God is trying to teach us is to open our hands it’s good to help, it is good to sow into lives. For instance the marketer that is taking the work now, we are the ones producing the work. We want to produce 5,000 copies for him to sell. We want to hold the rope when he holds the goat. So that we would know what is real. It is important. Selling CD is not what makes people rich it is going to events that makes you rich and that publicity is only done by God not by radio or mass media but by God. Kingdom people can enhance God in your life. These are the things I believe in, if I want to get acumen and make the money I want to make and live the king of life I want to live I would die before my time, so let me follow God’s template. There are big boys who pirated our works and are big boys today. Do you know what God showed me, I was going to the river to fetch water in the dream. When I was going inside the village I fetch the water and I was talking with the baba. When I was coming back the baba said drop the bucket. The baba said drop the bucket and look back, what do you see? I said baba I see nothing. He said look again, what do you see? I said baba I see river, he said that is what I left inside you. They took the bucket, so you say I should tell people not to pirate my song? Feel free to pirate it but let it go far. Let it go to Asia, China, South Africa but put the artistes’ names. Make the money, if you can, can send tithe we know God would touch you.
How did you gather these artistes?
Like produces like. A man’s pains leads him to where the pleasure is. What is the pleasure of a man? The pleasure to the pain of a man is the solution of his pain. They pirated our songs I was in pains I am the foundation, at the top, I have been there so when those who are coming know where to run to. We have not done publicity, we have talents from over 300 churches. These are the ones who can make it today but now God has told us can a man light a candle and put it under a bushel? No. God says put it on the lamp stand let people see it. That is publicity. We’ll be knocking at your door now. There is an alternative in stupid entertainment.
When is the online TV coming up?
Very soon, what is delaying me now is money, just three laptops. A man told me I should come for it. I have been spent. But very soon we are coming up to the glory of God.
