The Chief of Defence Staff General Lucky Irabor and the Minister of Defence, Major General Bashir Salihi Magashi have felicitated with the members of the Armed Forces of Nigeria on this major islamic festival of Eid El Fitr which marks the completion of 30 days fasting in the holy month of Ramadan.
General Irabor congratulated all for successfully partaking in one of the cardinal pillars of Islam through fasting, prayers and alms giving in obedience to the divine command of the Almighty Allah.
This was contained in a press statement signed by the Director, Defence Information (DDI) Brigadier General Tukur Gusau in Abuja on Thursday evening.
He further prayed to Almighty God to accept the fasting and prayers and continue to bless the Federal Republic of Nigeria.
Members of the Armed Forces of Nigeria are also reminded to continue praying for the unity and peaceful coexistence of our nation while upholding the lessons of patience and sacrifice with one another as exemplified in the holy month.
The CDS, once again, commended the Armed Forces of Nigeria in the role played in the recently concluded supplementary elections. He further assured Nigerians of the loyalty of the Armed Forces of Nigeria to the democratic leadership and vowed to upheld constitutional governance in Nigeria.
Meanwhile, the Minister of Defence, Major General Bashir Salihi Magashi (retd) called on Muslims to sustain the gains of Ramadan fasting while rejoicing with the Muslims across the globe on this year’s Eid-il- Fitr celebration.
Major General Magashi stated this in a message to felicitate with the Muslim Ummah for successfully concluding this year’s fasting.
He urged the faithful to celebrate modestly with the fear of Almighty Allah who spared their lives to see the end of Ramadan fast, an opportunity which He denied others.
The Defence Minister, therefore, stressed the need for the Muslims to sustain the spiritual lessons and gains of fasting and urged them never to go back to uncharitable acts.
While congratulating the Muslims on this auspicious occasion of Eid-il- Fitr he prayed for the repose of the souls of those who paid the supreme price defending the nation’s territorial integrity as well as those who saw the beginning of fasting but were unable to see its end.
