The Oba of Lagos, HRH Rilwan Aremu Akiolu while welcoming the Deputy Inspector General of Police in charge of ICT, DIG Foluso Adebanjo, has requested that the Inspector General of Police, IGP Ibrahim Idris liase with the Federal authority to ensure that a Mobile barracks is established around Ishawo, Ikorodu axis.
Speaking on the insecurity in the state especially the recent killing of four police officers and an Army Captain at Ishawo, Ikorodu area of the state,Oba Akiolu stated that he has ordered that all shanties in riverine areas all over Lagos state be demolished because that is where criminals plan and execute their criminal act.
He added that the killers of four police officers and two army officers at the Isawo area of Lagos should never go scout free.
“I have told the commissioner of police and many other security officers that they shouldn’t listen to anybody who comes to them when somebody has been arrested for unlawful offenses’ do not condone criminality and my name should not dragged into it.
“Even if it were my son that commits, the full arms of the law will take it course on him. I am a disciplinarian, I have spent 33 years in the police force. I have argued and proved my point.” He said.
He also stated that, effective policing would only be possible the day federal government decides to provide all the logistics to the police force.
“I know what the IGP is experiencing, it did not start with him. Any day the government is prepared to have effective and efficient policing they should give not just the police but all the security agencies all the logistics needed to do the job.
“And members of the public too are always very quick at criticism. We must corporate fully with the security agencies because security is the responsibility of every Nigerian.”
He appealed to the IGP to return all the officers that had earlier being transferred out of Lagos to other commands back to the command. He vowed to expose all police officers serving in the state that get themselves involved in corrupt practices.
