Diamond Bank Sustains Two Days Gains … Market Indicators Grew By 0.42 Percent On Tuesday

At the close of business on Tuesday January 30, 2018, trading on the floor of Nigerian Stock Exchange (NSE) closed on a positive note as Diamond Bank Plc again topped the gainers table to close at N3.19 kobo. Just as banking stocks continue to attract investors’ attention.

However, the key market indicators increased by 0.42 percent, bringing the year to date return to 16.34 percent. Specifically the All Share Index closed at 44,493.79 against the previous close of 44,306.48.

While Market Capitalization closed at N15.950 trillion against previous close of N15.883 trillion. Volume traded increased by 52.96 percent from 573.350 million to 876.976 million, while the total value of stock traded increased by 26.38 percent from N5.879 billion to N7.430 billion in 8,780 deals.

The Financial Services sector led the activity chart with 566.212 million shares exchanged for N3.526 billion. Conglomerates came next with 162.32 million shares traded for N0.416 billion, Consumer Goods, Services, Industrial Goods sectors followed in that order on the activity chart.

Transnational Corporation Plc, Diamond Bank Plc, Skye Bank Plc, Honey Well Flour Plc and FCMB Holding Plc were the most active stocks by volume. Diamond Bank Plc, Honey Well Flour Mill Plc, Skye Bank Plc, Sterling Bank Plc and Nigerian Police Micro Finance Bank Plc emerged the highest price gainers.

while ABC Transport, Royal Exchange Plc, FTN Cocoa Plc, Cutix Plc and Nigeria Aviation Handling Company Plc topped the losers table. In all a total of 105 companies shares were traded with 34 gainers and 24 losers. 47 companies price remained unchanged at the close of business.
