Cult War: Two Notorious Cultists In Police Net After Clash At Ebute Metta

After a clash that involved some notorious cult groups at Herbert Macaulay/Ondo Street, Ebute Metta area, on Wednesday, operatives from the Lagos state Police Command have restored peace and arrested two suspects with dangerous weapons.

Confirming the arrest, the spokesperson of tbe Command, CSP Olumuyiwa Adejobi said that some suspected cultists had attacked individuals and dispossessed them of their valuables while others had their properties damaged during a show of madness by two unidentified cult groups.

CSP Adejobi explained that, “Today Wednesday, 24th February, 2021, about 11am some suspected cultists fomented troubles at Ebute Metta area creating fears in the minds of innocent Lagosians.

“Policemen were deployed to the areas and arrested two suspects identified as Tunde Rosanye, 39, and Muyideen Ayede, 20.”

Items recovered from them included one locally-made short gun, some live and expended cartridges, two cutlasses, three knives, one mobile phone and a small bag.

The suspects have given useful information to the police and efforts are on to apprehend other fleeing members of the gang.

Meanwhile, the Commissioner of Police, Lagos State, CP Hakeem Odumosu, while assuring Lagosians that all hands would be on deck to consistently fight crimes and criminality, especially cultism and gangsterism in the state, ordered that the suspects be moved to the State Criminal Investigation Department, Panti, Yaba, for proper investigation, and that other members of the gang must be brought to book.
