COVID-19: Group Donates Food Items To Mile 12, Lagos Communities

A humanitarian group under the aegis of Egbe Omo Adugbo Home and Abroad has donated relief and welfare packages to communities in Kosofe Local government Area of Lagos State.

The communities are Maidan, Agiliti and Orile all in Mile 12 International Market.

The donation according to the group was part of palliative measures to cushion the effect of the lockdown pronounced by the Federal Government against the spread of Corona virus in Nigeria.
The exercise, which was convened by Alhaji Saheed Sanusi and coordinated by Abdul-Lateef Babajide Williams, Segun Adelaja and Musibau Giwa disclosed in a statement that, “The reason behind the

laudable project was born out of the present global pandemic ravaging every nation across the globe which has led to many nations to be locked down and so we decided to come together about few days back to give back to the society that produced us by contributing money for food stuffs to be shared to the less privileged and vulnerable people like the old ones and widows.

According to the group, aside from distribution of the relief package items, the communities were also enlightened about measures put in place by the government to prevent the spread of COVID-19 at the grassroots.
The group also emphasised the importance of social distancing as well as regular washing of hands with running water and soap in the fight against the deadly disease.
The group also thanked the people of the communities in ensuring that the exercise was a success.
