Confusion As Mobil, Mr. Biggs, Oando Are Demolished In Maryland

 

There was confusion Monday morning when caterpillars moved into the Mobil filling station in Maryland, Ikeja, Lagos to demolish the popular filling station and Mr. Biggs fast food outlet located in the premises.

Commuters were worried about the development as a commercial driver said he bought fuel in the station earlier.

The driver who identified himself as Julius said, “I still bought fuel here not long ago only to return to see the demolition. In fact you can still see some of their attendants in uniform. I don’t know what is happening,” he said.

An annonymous commuter said, “The premises had been marked for demolition during former Governor Ambode’s tenure because they wanted to use it for BRT terminal.”

However, the station manager was not on ground to confirm the commuter’s claim.

On the other side of the Mobolaji Bank Anthony way opposite the Mobil filling station, a catterpilar was also seen demolishing the filling station.

It appeared that both premises are needed for same purpose though people in the area are still baffled.

Meanwhile, cart pushers who deal in metal objects popularly called scavengers are already milling around to see what they could scavenge while some have already started moving some metals.

People in the premises have started to restrict movements of the scarvengers from vandalising the premises.

Commuters used to getting fuel at the two filling stations are however worried on how to get easy alternatives.
