An International Christian humanitarian and charity organization, Stefanos Foundation, has donated relief materials to victims of banditry in Shiroro, Rafi and Munya Local Government Areas of Niger State.
Delivering the relief items in Gwada, Shiroro local government area of the state, the Project Manager, Mr. Ayuba Plangji, said the gesture was to help the victims feel a sense of belonging.
He explained that the foundation was concerned about the plights of the victims and felt the need to provide them with humanitarian assistance to reduce their sufferings and to give them hope that they have not been forgotten.
The event which took place at the premises of the Evangelical Church Winning All (ECWA) Gwada, in Shiroro local government area of the state , drew long suffering victims of banditry who were camped in different IDPs camps in Munya and Shiroro LGAs of the state.
The project manager said the reliefs, though may not change the conditions of the victims, but however described it as a symbolic gesture to the victims that they were always remembered in their time of grief.
He said the Stefanos Foundation has provided assistance to people in need in Zamfara, Adamawa, Oyo, Taraba, Ebonyi, Kano and many other States and have been doing that for the past 20 years.
The Niger state Lead Volunteer of Stefanos Foundation, Mr. Ayuba Musa, Uregi said that the humanitarian assistance came at the time people were really in need of intervention.
He stated further that the beneficiaries were selected based on their vulnerabilities and thanked the foundation for putting smiles on the faces of displaced persons in Niger State.
Some of the beneficiaries who spoke to newsmen on the sidelines of the symbolic presentation of the relief items said they were grateful to Stefanos Foundation for the kind gesture.
Mrs. Nancy Juanse, who noted that she lost her husband during attack on their village, said the assistance will greatly assist her. She thanked the foundation for the gifts.
Meanwhile no fewer than over 116 internally displaced persons at the IFPs camps received different items which included clothes, buckets, detergents, sugar, groundnut oils, rice,among others.
