Father Ejike Mbaka has broken the silence on his disappearance for 24 hours, accusing the Enugu Catholic Bishop, Reverend Callistus Onaga, of planning his incarceration.
Mbaka said he was detained by the Bishop over his support for Nnamdi Kanu and the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB). He said he was released because of the protest that happened at his ministry on Wednesday.
According to City Voice, Mbaka spoke to journalists on Wednesday evening, saying the Enugu Catholic Diocese planned to detain him for 30days, he added that a lot of issues were presented before him and they agreed to detain him for 30 days. He will have to pray and meditate over the issues during the period.
He told them to allow him to go and address his ministry before the incarceration, but they disagreed. They pushed him out after seeing the large crowd that turned up for the protest.
He said his major sin was that he prayed for Nnamdi Kanu and his recent comments against President Muhammad Buhari.
The Leadership of the Catholic Church have also finally suspended Father Mbaka over his recent anti-Buhari’s comment and expressed support for Nnamdi Kanu.
Mbaka said:
Mbaka said the church was strong against him for blessing Nnamdi Kanu.
“Are you the owner of my mouth? You can’t tell me who to bless? If you are not happy that I blessed someone, you have your own mouth, you can curse the person.
“They didn’t treat me in a pastoral way and I was asking am I being punished for what?
“They said it was a meeting, but even before I reached the Bishop’s house, conclusion has already been made. What happened to me was like the day I was shot on the road.
“Unfortunately for them, even before the meeting, a woman was already going around bragging that the Bishop will call me for a meeting, and that I was going to leave my house here for 30 days, and that after the 30 days, I would be sent to Rome, and Adoration ministry will be closed.
“In a time and cases like this, don’t give me a punishment that will cause troubles for us because I’m not alone,” he said.
