Bayelsa Former Lawmaker Relaunches Political Career, As Gbali Kuma Chairs FJP

Bayelsa state former House of Assembly member and onetime Commissioner in the state Local Government Service Commission, Chief Augustus Elliot OSomu says he is running for the Ogbia Federal constituency seat in the 2019 election.

The former Legislator who represented Ogbia Constituency III in the state Assembly disclosed this to Journalists at Imiringi, his home town, Wednesday shortly after his arrival from consultation tour of Communities in Ogbia, saying the people needed better representation.

Osomu, former acting paramount ruler of Imiringi and author of many books as well a public speaker maintained that even though he would have loved to contest the polls under the platform of the People Democratic Party, PDP he now has resorted to seek for election on the candidacy of the Freedom and Justice Party, FJP due to the neglect and abandonment he faced from his former Party ever since he left office as a member of the state Assembly.

The erstwhile Assembly member reiterated that from wide consultations the Ogbia people want him to aspire for an office where he would make greater impact on the people, maintaining that he has chosen to contest on the platform of the Freedom and Justice Party, “an alternative party founded on the notion of emancipation and relief for the oppressed and down trodden”, he said.

According to the onetime acting royal father of the oil rich Community, the Freedom and Justice Party on whose platform he is vying for the Ogbia Federal constituency seat has a manifesto that is in tune with his aspirations, saying that the Ogbia people clamour for adequate representation at all levels.

The former lawmaker, popularly referred to as the Oracle by his admirers and former legislator colleagues emphasized that he has left the PDP for the FJP, describing his new party as a veritable party for people with the clout and followership like him whose ideas and intentions are in tandem with progress.

The representative hopeful said if elected into the house come 2019 he would among other things lobby for the creation of additional LGAs for Bayelsa state, establish Federal presence in Ogbia and work towards the actualization of a Federal Government financed and sponsored annual oil and gas festival in Oloibiri where oil was first struck in commercial quantity amongst others.

Meanwhile the Bayelsa state Chairman of the FJP, Chief Ken Gbalikuma says the party is the one to beat in the forthcoming election.
Gbalikuma who is also the party’s candidate for the Yenagoa /kolokuma/Opokuma Federal Constituency in the 2019 election said the party has fielded responsibly, qualified candidates for the 2019 polls in the state, stressing that they would win landslide.
