Paramount ruler (Amananowei ) of former Bayelsa state Governor,Seriake Dickson’s aborinal home town of Bulo-Orua in Sagbama LGA of Batelsa state, HRH Stanley Engowerikumo has insisted that he remains the bonafide monarch of the community.
Engowerikumo Described his purported removal as a nullity,just as he emphasised that his alleged sack from the stool by the Tarakiri Council of Chiefs is not in tandem with the Chieftancy Law of of the state.
” I am the gazetted Amananaowei of Bulo-Orua community. I cannot be removed by a purported letter written by some few elements who don’t like the progress of Bulo-Orua community”, he stated while speaking with Journalists in Yenagoa today.
According to him, the genesis of his ordeal could be traced to his stance against a section of the opposition elements within the community who wanted to reinstall their stooge,the outgoing CDC chairman of the community upon the expiration of his tenure.
He maintained that himself and the council of chiefs and the generality of the community insisted that the outgoing chairman render account of his stewardship before standing for reelection, but the outgoing chairman refused to hear them.
The Amananowei noted that the outgoing chairman refused to follow due process and directives stipulated by electoral body in the conduct of the CDC election.
Surprisingly, according the monarch the opposition element went to the King(Pere ) of Tarakiri Kingdom and his Council of Chiefs for self help, invited them to the Bulo-Orua community internal matters and dictated how the election should be conducted against the general interest of the community.
Following mine and the general community’s stance on the election,the opposition element went to Sagbama High Court sitting in Yenagoa to institute a case against me,claiming that I am civil servant and that as such I am not suppose to be the Amananaowei of Bulo-Orua community.
” But, the facts and issue of the matter is that, I am the gazetted Amananaowei of Bulo-Orua community as a 2nd class chief, in the Bayelsa State Ministry of Chieftaincy Affairs. Stressing that it was there the recognition and staff of office came from”,he asserted.
” My coronation on June 2019 in Bulo-Orua was in line with the Chieftaincy laws of the State. It is unconstitutional to remove me, as I have not gone out on my way to misbehave to warrant a removal letter from the Pere and his council of chiefs. I therefore make bold to state that the claimants actions is an afterthought and a nullity”,he added.
