… Unveil Gallery, Call For Patronage
The Bayelsa State Commissioner for Agriculture and Natural Resources, Chief David Alagoa and that of Culture and Tourism, Dr Iti Orugbani have called on patronage for Arts works in the state.
The Commissioners made the call in Yenagoa, the State capital midweek at the maiden exhibition and unveiling of Arts works by a Bayelsa based young Artist, Mr Tombara Angalapele.
The event which held at the David Alagoa Arts Gallery, Azikoro, Yenagoa was tagged, ‘Thought Realm’, and it showcases and explains the various stages of human thoughts, from teenage through adulthood.
In his opening speech to unveil the works, the Commissioner for Agriculture and Natural Resources, Chief David Alagoa noted that even though he was an ardent Arts collector, the works by the exhibitor, Tombara Angalapele were awesome, saying that they were amongst the finest of Arts works he has seen in recent years.
The Agriculture and Natural Resources Commissioner lauded the Artist, reiterating that due to his love for Arts, he would continue to patronize and support Artists, especially young Bayelsans who have recently proven their mettle through their Arts works that indeed one could eke out a living and have fulfilment being an Artist even in this part of the world.
Similarly, the State Commissioner for Culture and Tourism, Dr Iti Orugbani has said, Government was committed to ensuring that talented Bayelsa Artists and others in the tourism and hospitality sector of the state’s economy were given the enabling environment to ply their profession and trade.
He applauded Angalapele for the feat he has achieved even as a young Artist, noting that the Ministry of Culture and Tourism would continue to support Artists for the development of their profession in the State.
In an interview with Journalists shortly after the exhibition, Angalapele promised to chun out the best of Arts works, saying he is open to partnership for the development of the Arts industry in the state.
He said:”I thank my parents who discovered my potentials as an Artist at a very tender age. Infact, my parents bought me my first drawing books when they noticed this Art talent in me. I’m ready to partner others for the development of the Arts industry in the state.”
