Bayelsa Clergy Protest Nullification Of Lyon’s Victory

Group of clergymen in Bayelsa state saturday protested the nullification of the electoral victory of former Bayelsa state Governor-elect and Governorship standard bearer of the All progressives Congress, APC in the 2019 Gubernatorial polls held in the state,Chief David Lyon by the supreme court.

Spokesmen for the clergies,Reverend Victor Thomas,pastor David Alfred and Reverend Mrs Helen Purkins maintained that the protest became necessary following what they alleged was the supreme court’s arbitrary nullification of the victory of a candidate divinely sent to rescue Bayelsans from oppression, poverty and hunger.

The group called on the Independent national electoral commission, INEC and the apex court to have a rethink of their actions,stressing that Lyon’s magnanimity and his humble life style have for years endeared him to Bayelsans which made the electorates to vote massively.

The servants of God reiterated their commitment not to rest on their oars until Lyon’s victotory is restored and the peoples votes counted.

Reverends Thomas, Purkins and pastor Alfred submitted that the euphoria of Lyon’s Governorship ambition which was on the rise as the last election approaches gave hope to many hopeless people, citing an instance when an alleged insane man around the Tombia axis of the state capiptal received instant healing on hearing about the former Governor’s ambition.

“We prayed for a God fearing man to be Governor and so God brought us David Lyon.Now the supreme court unilatary nulified the election of this God sent.We’ll never stop praying until our mandate is restored.” He said.

“You see just with hearing that Lyon was  formally declaring for Governorship a mad man in Tombia area of Yenagoa received healing.” He added.

The clergy alleged that the apex court was not fair to to Lyon,saying how can a an astute public servant and politician noted for unblemished service would have now as Governorship running mate submitted fake certificates to the INEC.

The Men of God condemned the Judgement describing it as a procured one worthy of killing the hopes and expectations of Bayelsans.

 It would be recalled that David Lyon contested the Apc Governorship primaries,taking overall best position.He also won landslide  the last Governorship general election and repeated history by also emerging victorious.
