AXA Mansard Appoints Ahmed Managing Director … As Yetunde Ilori Retires

As part of its repositioning drive for higher profitability, the board of AXA Mansard Insurance Plc, on Monday announced the appointment of Kunle Ahmed Ilori as chief executive officer, subject to confirmation by the National Insurance Commission (NAICOM).

Ilori, who was Executive Director Technical, before now, replaces Mrs. Yetunde Ilori, who retires as CEO with effect from July 17, 2017, in line with “the well-defined succession plan of the Company,” according to a statement to the Nigerian Stock Exchange and signed by Mrs. Omowunmi Adewusi, the Company Secretary.

Ahmed joined the board as Executive Director in February 2012 and currently serves as a Member of the Board’s Risk and Technical Committee, besides being a Non- Executive Director of AXA Mansard Health Limited (a subsidiary of the Company).

A 1987 graduate of the University of Ilorin, he commenced his insurance career in 1993 and worked in IGI Insurance plc for a decade before joining AXA Mansard Insurance plc in February 2004.

With over 24 years insurance experience, the MD-designate is widely respected as a leader in the Nigerian Insurance Industry and a resource person who has been involved in delivering papers on different topics at different fora.

At AXA Mansard, he pioneered the Energy Group and the Regional Office in Port Harcourt and has been responsible for the Technical Division for the last couple of years. The statement expressed the board and management’s confident that Ilori’s wealth of experience would benefit not only the company but the industry as a whole.
