In an apparent move to ease soldiers’ accommodation problems, the Chief of Army Staff, Nigerian Army, Lt Gen Tukur Buratai, on Wednesday commissioned seven units of Non-Commissioned Officers (NCOs) Quarters at the Ikeja Cantonment in Lagos.
The COAS, who was represented by the General Officer Commanding, (GOC) 81 Division, Maj Gen Olubunmi Irefin, handed over keys of the house to some of the beneficiaries.
He reiterated that the COAS was poised at ensuring that soldiers were well quartered. He further expressed his commitment to providing descent and furnished accommodation for its personnel.
Maj Gen Irefin noted that the block of flats would ameliorate the acute shortage of accommodation for troops.
However, it was learnt that the project which was embarked by the Nigerian Army Special Projects Department was supervised by the 45 Engineer Brigade.
The commissioning ceremony was attended by the Commander 9 Brigade, Brig Gen MA Etsu-Ndagi, Commander 45 Engineer Brigade, Brig Gen Salako, Chief of Staff, Headquarters 9 Brigade, Col Ibrahim, Staff Officers of the Divisional and Brigade Headquarters and family members of beneficiaries as well Barracks community.
