Paramount ruler of Agbura, a community in the suburb of Yenagoa, the Bayelsa State Capital. HRH E .N Daufa (Ikile viii) says an Epie-Atissa Governor come November 2019 would continue with governor Dickon’s legacies just as he says the Epie-Atissa speaking twin clans deserve the number one office in the state.
The royal father who spoke through the community’s council of Chiefs spokesman, His Highness Benson Okpenvie made this known to journalists Monday during a chat in his palace. He stressed that though the twin clans host the state capital and have since been supporting and voting for candidates from other ethnic nationalities none of their sons or daughters have occupied the post of governor in the present Bayelsa State nor were they given the chance in the old River state.
According to the Monarch while the state governor has done well in providing both infrastructure and human capital development, the state needs a successive governor who would continue governor Dickson’s legacies, harping that the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), the All Progressive Congress (APC) and other political parties look within Epie-Atissa clans for their gubernatorial standard bearers.
Daufa who eulogized governor Dickon for his sterling performance also thanked him for upgrading the Agbura chieftaincy stool from 3rd – 2nd class, maintaining that with the reclassification of traditional rulers in the state they can only put in their best in terms of maintenance of peace and other in their various domains.
Meanwhile the Agbura monarch has warned criminals and those who are in the habit of committing social vices to steer clear of the community.
Speaking on the fall out of the recent arrest of some youths involved in crimes in the community, the paramount ruler restated that anybody caught committing crime or harbouring criminals would be apprehended by the community’s leadership and made to face the wrath of the law, describing the recent crimes in their neighbouring communities as worrisome.
