Adeboye Celebrates Falcons, Makes Case for Coaches

…says an individual needs a ‘coach’ to win in life

General Overseer of the Redeemed Christian Church of God (RCCG) has applauded the decision of President Bola Tinubu to reward each of the Super Falcons players with house and 100,000 gifts, following the recent victory in Morocco at the Women’s Africa Cup of Nations (WAFCON).

Adeboye, however, viewed that coaches should not get less rewards, as they were instrumental to the victory achieved by the players.

The preacher gave his applause/view on Sunday, at the August Thanksgiving and prayer service for sports administrators, regulators, promoters, business persons, training institutions,men, ladies and supporters club, which held with the theme, ‘The Winning Team’ at the RCCG Throne of Grace Parish, Ebute-Metta, Lagos.

Speaking at the service preceeding the 73rd Annual Convention of RCCG, which holds Monday August 4 to Sunday August 10, Adeboye stated: “Nobody celebrates lovers. I wasn’t surprised when the government, when the president decided to give a gift to the Falcons…in our own days all we got was a handshake…and they won’t just get the money, they will even get a house. I said ‘is that so?’

“I thank the President for the gifts to the Falcons. However, I’m not quite sure I agree that the coaches should get less than the players, because I’m going to show you that without coaches the team will not succeed. But I don’t want to get into controversy. God bless the coaches because you need them.”

Recalling his active boxing days with Muhammed Alli as his mentor, he related sports to life saying coach is need to win in life and wisdom better than strength.

Giving tips for success, which include wisdom/ knowing how to win, working extra hard and divine involvement, he said:”Don’t be a joker. Success in life is depending 100 per cent on God.”
