Chairman, Emeyal II community council of chiefs, Ogbia local government area of Bayelsa state and house of assembly candidate of the Accord Party for Ogbia constituency III, Bayelsa house of assembly in the forth coming 2019 election, chief Misodema Ibu says the People Democratic Party (PDP), lacks internal democracy in its conducts.
Chief Ibu made this revelations Sunday in Emeyal II while speaking with journalists, stressing that after exhausting all available avenues to seeking for redress of his grouse against the PDP which he described as his former party, he was compelled to leave the party for the Accord Party to contest the 2019 Assembly polls.
According to Ibu who also doubles as deputy Chief II of Ekpodidi compound of his community, the just concluded primary elections of the PDP fell below standards and expectations of party members and many aspirants, saying as a result of imposition of candidates on party on party delegates, the supposed adhoc delegates to the different primaries of the party were handpicked rather than being elected as stated by the party’s constitution.
The Accord party candidate maintained that as former PDP member he has worked tirelessly for other aspirants on the party’s platform. He opined that because the needs of his constituency have not been met, contesting the 2019 election would be a means of reaching out to the people when he is elected.
Ibu emphasized that prior to nursing the ambition for the Assembly race, he has had course to reach out to his constituents through his NGOs, Zoe mega initiative ( ZMI), and the Divine agenda initiative (DAI) through the upgrade and provision of infrastructure and scholarship awards.
The alumnus of the Zenith University College, Accra, Ghana said since after he left the PDP to contest on the platform of the Accord Party he has being receiving series of threat calls from unknown persons who knew and believes he would win if left unwatched.
“If elected,” Chief Ibu said, “I would focus on the provision of social amenities for my constituency, create opportunities for free educations and work to make soft agricultural loans available for my constituents.” He added that he would also attract government attention to his constituency in the area of construction and dualization of road networks and work out modalities for the provision uninterrupted and adequate power supply to grow business in the constituency among others, emphasizing that Ogbia constituency III has the largest amount of crude oil in the country.
