The Management of Ambrose Alli University (AAU), Ekpoma, on Friday donated 5000 reusable and washable facemasks to the Edo State Government in Benin City.
Vice-Chancellor of the university, Professor Ignatius Onimawo said the facemask was part of the institution’s contribution to the campaign against the spread of coronavirus pandemic in the state.
The Vice Chancellor who was represented during the presentation by the Director, Centre for Entrepreneurial/Career Studies, of the University, Prof. Osadolor Odia, handed the materials to the Head of Service, Anthony Okungbowa Esq. at Government House, Benin City, Edo State capital.
According to Prof. Onimawo, “The facemasks were produced at Ambrose Alli University by the Centre for Entrepreneurial Studies. We have changed the image of the school in the last few years and it now ranks highly among its peers in Nigeria.”
Responding, the Head of Service, Mr Okungbowa, thanked the university for its support noting that the materials were a swift response to the Governor Godwin Obaseki’s plea for everyone to be part of the state’s fight against COVID-19.
Reiterating, Okungbowa noted that the fight against COVID-19 is like fighting in a war zone which requires the collective responsibility of all and sundry to win the war.
“We are actually in a war situation. Everybody must put their hands on deck to make the fight against COVID-19 a lot easier for us all.”
