A comforting respite has come the way of Nigerians displaced by the ongoing construction of the Lagos-Calabar Coastal Highway, courtesy of KloverHarris Limited, a Lagos-based business consultancy firm.
On Friday, March 13, 2026, amid smiles and excitement, over 150 members of the Alpha Beach Settlement in Okun Alfa, a coastal community around the Lekki Peninsula in Eti-Osa Local Government Area of Lagos State, received palliatives donated by the company as part of its corporate social responsibility (CSR) interventions.
The package, amongst others, included rice, beans, garri, salt, semolina, sugar, vegetable oil, toothpaste, milk, detergents, soap, and palm oil.
Speaking at the event, Ms Bukola Ariyibi, Managing Director of KloverHarris Limited, said the gesture is reflective of the company’s solemn commitment to tackling some of the challenges faced by vulnerable communities across the country.
She stated, “Our key objective in making this intervention is to mitigate the pain which the displacement from their homes would have inflicted on fellow Nigerians.
It fits into our business philosophy which aims at building strategic relationships that facilitate positive socio-economic development in our dear country. On the other hand, we are encouraged by the realization of the enormous positive effect which the road project would have on the developmental objectives of the country.”
Ariyibi assured that the organization would continue to partner with other stakeholders in making strategic interventions to support nation-building and human progress.
The gesture was well applauded by the community’s representatives who showered encomiums on the company.In his remarks, the Baale (Traditional Ruler) of Alpha Beach Settlement, Chief Yusuf Elegushi Atewolara, commended the company for its exemplary empathy and charity towards the afflicted in the society, describing the gesture as one that the community would always remain thankful for.
While appealing to other well-meaning Nigerians and groups to emulate the initiative of KloverHarris Limited in alleviating the suffering of the people, Atewolara noted that many members of the community have become homeless and jobless, a situation that breeds uncertainty and crime. Desperation and failure often becomes the norm.
The event, which held at Baale’s palace, attracted traditional and community leaders, residents, parents and well-wishers, among other stakeholders. Prior to the latest setback, the Okun Alfa community, bordered on the coastline by the Atlantic Ocean, frequently suffered from sea surges that have submerged most of the landscape and destroyed homes and properties, as well as essential infrastructure and businesses.
The once famous Alpha Beach, which hitherto attracted tourists from far and wide, has lost its allure due to the ocean overflowing and attendant destruction.
