In a desperate push to guarantee the safety and security of lives and properties, the Otaru-in-Council, Auchi Royal Palace, in collaboration with the Divisional Police Officer of the Auchi Police Division, have taken far-reaching decisions aimed at restoring peace, strengthening vigilance, and protecting residents of Auchi and its environs.
In a communique released at the end of an emergency security meeting convened at the Auchi Royal Palace, with the DPO, Paul Esezobor, on the 1st March, 2026, came out with measures to curtail growing insecurities in the community.
According to a statement signed by the Chairman, Palace Press, Auchi Royal Palace, Kadiri, J.E. said the decisions became necessary in order to address disturbing security concerns.
He explained that the palace with the DPO have ordered the immediate closure of the Hausa Market at Idanilace Village until further notice, until there is a comprehensive security review.
Besides, the Auchi Vigilante Group has been mandated to ensure strict compliance with the closure order and other security measures that were agreed on at the meeting.
As a result, every resident across Auchi is advised to reside within recognized residential apartments, adding that any individual found loitering or refusing to secure proper accommodation are advised to get a recognizable accommodation or vacate the community.
Other security measures included encouraging every able-bodied youths to join the Vigilante Group to strengthen local security architecture and promote collective responsibility in safeguarding the community.
To frustrate nuisance value of kidnappers, a practice that has become endemic in the domain, the palace and the police have called for the abolition of ransom payments.
Therefore, the security meeting strongly resolved that the payment of ransom under any circumstance must be discouraged, as it fuels criminal enterprise and endangers long-term community safety.
To curtail excesses, it has also imposed movement restriction advisory, calling on the residents, particularly those living on the outskirts of Auchi, to be indoors not later than 6:00 p.m. daily.
In addition, the residents have been warned to stay clear from, or avoid bush paths and isolated areas after 6:00 p.m. until further notice.
Describing the measures as “preventive and protective in nature,” Kadiri further explained that such measures are not targeted at any law-abiding individual or group but a significant steps taken in the overriding interest of public safety and communal harmony.
While putting every necessary measure to ensure strictest implementation, the Auchi Royal Palace, therefore called on the residents to remain calm, cooperate with security agencies, and support ongoing efforts to preserve peace and stability within the kingdom.
It noted that security is a collective responsibility, hence it must not be left for a single individual. “Together, we can ensure that Auchi remains safe, united, and prosperous,” Kadiri reiterated in the statement.
