The Chief of Army Staff (COAS), Lt Gen Waidi Shaibu has approved the posting of 2313 officers in the Nigerian Army.
The posting takes effect as stated against each of the affected officer.
In the posting list signed by the Military Secretary (Army), Major General E.I Okoro and dated 31st December, 2025, had the posting of 98 officers of varying ranks either amended or deleted.
A break down indicated that 37 Major Generals have been posted. Chiefly among them are two General Officers Commanding (GOC), 8 and 81 Division, Nigerian Army respectively.
Major General Farouk Mijinyawa, who before now is the GOC, 81 Division has been posted to Army Headquarters, Department of Army Policy and Plans (DAPP) and appointed as Deputy Chief of Policy and Plans (Dy. COPP).
Also affected is the General Officer Commanding (GOC), 8 Division, Sokoto, Major General Ibikunle Ajose, who has been posted to Army Headquarters and appointed as the Chief of Operations (Army).
However, new GOCs have also been posted to the two Divisions. They are Major General BP Koughna, 8 Divisions and Sector 2 Joint Task Force (JTF), Northwest, while Major General AA Babalola has been redeployed from Defence Headquarters, DAPP to 81 Division, Nigerian Army, Lagos as GOC.
Similarly, 187 Brigadier Generals have been posted or redeployed while 189 Colonels are affected in the new posting. In addition, 235 Lieutenant Colonels, 856 Majors, 384 Captains, 318 Lieutenants and three Second Lieutenants have been posted.
According to the directives as spelt out by the MS(A), affected officers are expected to report to their new area of posting at the date stated against their names or face sanction.
Posting and redeployment in the Nigerian Army is a routine order that helps strengthen strategic thinking and ensuring discipline, which invariably, strengthens national security.
