The Renewed Hope Initiative and the National Information Technology Development Agency (NITDA) have concluded a three-week ICT training programme for 320 women from across the country.
The closing ceremony was held at the Presidential Villa in Abuja, with the First Lady, Senator Oluremi Tinubu, commending the programme’s success.
The programme, which is part of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda, aims to promote economic diversification, human capital development, and digital inclusivity.
Since its inception in 2023, the programme has trained over 600 women in ICT skills, including device and software use, content creation, digital marketing, online safety, and basic problem-solving.
The First Lady encouraged the participants to utilize their new skills to build a digital future and pursue continuous growth, announcing plans to extend similar training to wives of executives. She praised the NITDA DG and his team for expanding opportunities for women nationwide.
The NITDA Director-General, Kashifu Inuwa in his remarks, highlighted the programme’s growth and impact, stating that the agency has trained over 1,000,143 Nigerians, including 32,000 civil servants, in digital literacy and skills under the current administration.
He emphasized NITDA’s commitment to building a digitally empowered nation and achieving 95% digital literacy by 2030.
In conclusion, participants expressed their gratitude to NITDA and the Renewed Hope Initiative for providing them with the skills and knowledge to thrive in Nigeria’s evolving digital economy.
