The United Nations Children and Education Fund, (UNICEF) has carried out a End-Year Review of it activities and interventions in Niger State, at Haske Luxury hotel Minna, on 14th November 2025.
The End-Year Review fast tracked all its implementing Ministries Departments and Agencies MDAs interventions in five critical areas of Routine immunisation, Nutrition, Water sanitation and hygiene WASH program, child protection, health, education and social behavioral change campaign SBCC.
The meeting advocated for the timely release of funds as critical at implementing the interventions in the State, adding that the funds will accelerate the desire result, noting that the End-Year Review is to assess how far the State has achieved from January to November 2025 under review.
It stated further that the State’s challenges towards proffering solutions to improve implementation and better results towards the implementation of interventions on Routine immunisation, Nutrition, Water sanitation and hygiene WASH program, child protection, health, education and social behavioral change campaign SBCC in the State by UNICEF is key to achieving the result area.
The UNICEF’s Kaduna Field Office in-charge of Niger State, through the State’s Planning Commission reiterated that the End-Year Review for 2025 is to appraised the implementing MDAs to look at interventions targets and realistically get the results area,noting that the review is to examine the various component of the intervention programs by UNICEF in achieving, supporting and funding those interventions in the State.
The 2025 Niger State End-Year Review is assessing the key performance indicators KPIs of the implementing MDAs targets template in the areas of maternal neonatal child health, routine immunisation, inclusive Breastfeeding, water sanitation and hygiene, Nutrition and food security, SBCC Advocacy, education, gender based violence, child protection and health.
Challenges identified during the Niger State 2025 End-Year Review is lack of release of funds, insecurity, economic recovery, food insecurity and humanitarian devastation.
The Review recommended continuous routine immunisation, increasing SBCC campaign and Advocacy, improve food security system and initiative, enhance gender mainstreaming, continuous WASH program and improved budgetary allocation to health and education.
Finally, the UNICEF 2025 Niger State End-Year Review Agenda examined program progress, focusing accelerated priority indicators and key results reflection and partnership in health, education, nutrition, child protection and WASH components of the State’s interventions by UNICEF.
