A solemn and befitting memorial service was held at Harbour Point, Victoria Island, Lagos, to honor six United Capital Group colleagues who tragically lost their lives in a fire incident at Afriland Towers on September 16, 2025.
The service brought together regulators, industry leaders, clients, partners, and the wider business community to pay their respects.
Group CEO Peter Ashade delivered a heartfelt address, reflecting on the weight of the loss and sharing personal recollections of each deceased colleague.
He offered words of encouragement to the grieving families and loved ones. Tony Elumelu, Chairman of Heirs Holdings, also extended his deep condolences to the families, highlighting the unity and resilience of the United Capital and Heirs Holdings family in mourning.
The memorial service featured moving tributes from family members, friends, and colleagues, capturing the lives and legacies of the departed.
Pastor Ituah Ighodalo provided a word of encouragement, offering hope and consolation to those in attendance. Renowned singer Timi Dakolo delivered a stirring rendition, leaving the hall in solemn reflection.
The service was streamed live for well-wishers outside the country, and additional viewing centers were set up in Abuja and Port Harcourt to allow more colleagues to pay their respects.
Guests described the ceremony as a respectful and dignified occasion, befitting the memory of the departed colleagues. United Capital Group noted that while the pain of their passing remains profound, their memories, impact, and contributions will live on in the hearts of all who knew them.
