The Ministry of Police Affairs has reaffirmed its commitment to implementing President Tinubu’s police reforms to enhance professionalism and effective service delivery in the Nigeria Police Force.
Permanent Secretary Dr. Anuma Ogbonaya Nlia made this pledge during a meeting with a police team led by Assistant Inspector General of Police AIG Nemi Edwin.
The meeting focused on developing a new scheme of service for the police force, covering areas such as police welfare and well-being, pension reform, capacity building and training, promotion processes, discipline and accountability, and performance management system.
Dr. Nlia emphasized the ministry’s dedication to collaborating with the police leadership to ensure effective reform implementation, boost morale, and improve service delivery. He stressed the importance of joint policy development and promoting human rights compliance.
AIG Nemi Edwin appreciated the ministry’s support, stressing that the police force cannot implement the new scheme without their involvement. The meeting concluded with a courtesy visit to Minister of Police Affairs Senator Ibrahim Gaidam.
The partnership aims to strengthen the Nigeria Police Force’s capacity to serve and protect citizens effectively.
“We believe that through regular consultations and a unified approach, we can strengthen the Nigeria Police Force and enhance its capacity to serve and protect all citizens”.
