Comfort Emmanson Bob, the Ibom Air Passenger, has been released from the Kirikiri prisons and the charges preferred against her dropped.
She was arraigned on Monday and remanded at the Kirikiri Correctional Centre, over her alleged unruly behaviour during a flight inbound Lagos from Uyo, the Akwa Ibom State capital, on Sunday, has been released.
It was learnt that Emmanson was released on Wednesday following the withdrawal of the case against her earlier announced through a press statement by the Minister of Aviation and Aerospace, Barr Festus Keyamo.
Festus Keyamo, confirmed her release to Channels Television on Wednesday.
“Emmanson has gone home from the court. I can confirm that,” he said in a terse message.
Earlier on Wednesday, the Minister of Aviation and Aerospace Development, Festus Keyamo, said after observing the events that played out in the last 48 hours, it became expedite to direct all relevant Aviation agencies in collaboration with other complementary agencies outside aviation to take some bold decisions.
He said those decisions were taken by Government and the airline operators purely on compassionate grounds as Government will never pander to base sentiments, politically-motivated views or warped legal opinions when clear encroachment of our laws are involved.
Among those decisions were to free Emmanson, drop charges against her and reduce the no fly ban to one month.
For Wasiu Ayinde aka Kwam 1, his was reduced from six months no fly ban to one month and drop the investigation while the pilots and co-officer licenses would be restored after one month.
