MTN Nigeria Posts Strong Q2-25 Earnings, Driven by Revenue Growth and Margin Expansion

MTN Nigeria Communications Plc has released its unaudited Q2-25 results, reporting a strong recovery in earnings per share (EPS) to NGN13.41, driven by a 68.1% year-on-year increase in revenue and a 21.80 percentage point expansion in EBITDA margin to 53.7%.

The company’s service revenue advanced by 68.1% year-on-year, reflecting double-digit growth across all segments, including data, voice, digital, fintech, and other service revenue.

Data revenue remained a standout performer, driven by subscriber growth, increased data traffic, and price adjustments.

MTN Nigeria’s total expenses increased modestly by 14.3% year-on-year, supported by a relatively stable currency, cost optimization initiatives, and NGN114.00 billion in savings from tower lease renegotiations. As a result, EBITDA margin expanded significantly, marking the company’s highest quarterly EBITDA margin since Q1-22.

The company’s profit after tax came in at NGN281.17 billion, driven by a strong operating performance and a reduction in net finance costs.

Looking ahead, MTN Nigeria’s earnings momentum is expected to remain strong in H2-25, driven by continued pricing benefits and a more stable macroeconomic environment.
