35-year old suspected rapist nabbed by the police in Niger

A 35- year old man, Mohammed Dan Abass, has been arrested by the Police in Niger State, over allegation of forcefully having  canal knowledge of a 14- year old girl, Miss Ramatu Mohammed,  at Barke Saleh area of Minna the state capital, after pretending to be assisting  the victim.

The incidence occurred at about 8:45pm last Saturday , when the victim, in the company of one of her friends , was frantically searching  for her money which she lost on the fateful evening, after which the suspect accosted her and lured her to his house in the neighbourhood under the pretense that he would give her back  the exact amount she had lost.

NationalWire learnt that the under aged girl innocently followed the suspect to his house, believing that Mohammed would fulfill the promise to assist her with the money as he had promised.

It was further gathered that  no sooner that she entered the suspect’s  residence with him,  that  he closed the  door, bolted it at the back and forcefully made love to her against her consent.

Further checks revealed that the under aged victim who is said to be staying with her mother could not go back home until about 00: 45 hours {12:45am Nigerian time} the following day, Sunday, 23rd October 2016 after surfering some bruishes on her private part

It was further gathered that  on  her arrival at home in the early hours of the fateful Sunday, she was said to have been crying uncontrollably, as she was also bleeding from her private parts and she narrated to her mother after questioning , that it was one Mohammed Dan Abass  of Barke Saleh who deceived her and took her to his house on the pretence that he will give her back her lost funds the previous  evening.

She was said to have informed  her mother that instead of the suspect fulfilling his promise to her, that he forcefully had canal knowledge of her, adding that she began to bleed almost immediately while the suspect allegedly forced himself into her as she wept profusely over the discomfort.

An Police   source  at the Criminals Investigation and Intelligence Department{CIID} at the state Police Command headquarters  Minna, told National Wirethat upon the complaint by the mother of the victim,one Madam  Hajara Mohammed,  from Barke Saleh,  at the Police station , that the under aged  girl was taken to the Police Clinic Minna  for medical examination and treatment.

The source who craved for anonymity in a brief chat with our reporter added that the suspect, Mohammed Dan Abass was promptly arrested by the police, after which he allegedly confessed to the crime.

Also when contacted, the Police Public Relations, Niger State Police Command, Mr. Bala Elkana, a Deputy Superintendent of Police {DSP} has confirmed the incidence , adding that the Command has commenced discrete investigation into the matter after the arrest of the suspect.

Elkana stated this in an interview with our reporter on Wednesday in Minna, highlighting further that at the completion of the police investigation into the matter, that the suspect would be arraigned in Court for trial.
