Adagba FC Lifts Mbiama Super Trophy

History was reenacted in the commercial town of Mbiama, Ahoada-West Local Government Area of Rivers State as Adagba FC beat Delta Flames FC 1-0 to clinch the first edition of the Mbiama royal Super Cup.

Adagba FC had earlier emerged champions of the Mbiama Inter-street tournament, while Delta Flames FC had also picked first position in the Inter-tribal debut held in March, 2025, making them rivals for the finals of the Super cup decided Sunday 20th April, 2025.

Adagba FC forward, Ambo Friday scored the only goal of the finals 25 minutes into the first half of the tournament leaving the Warri boys stranded on the pitch throughout the 90 minutes of the encounter.

Speaking to National Wire sports, sponsor of the Super Cup and paramount ruler of Mbiama, HRH Otovie Smith Sylvanus said the reason for the tournament was to again foster peace and unity amongst people living in the community.

He noted that after hosting the last Inter-tribal tournament in March he felt obliged to host the super tourney to get the best-of-the-best between winners of the Inter-tribal and the Inter-street tournament, noting that football remains means of keeping youths out of crime and criminality.

Also speaking, host of the Inter-street football competition, Hon. MacLean Odeam Nwokoma who doubles as the immediate past councilor for Ahoada-West LGA Ward two noted that football remains a vital tool for curbing youths restiveness and discovery of football talents.

Meanwhile, veteran Coach Meinkeme Fekete has lauded the Mbiama paramount ruler for his love of youths and sports.

He said the royal father’s peaceful disposition and his desire to continue hosting the annual finals was grooming and also discovering hidden football talents.

Highpoints of the finals was the presentation of trophy and cash gifts to the winners, Adagba FC and the first runner up, Delta Flames FC as well as players and winners of draught competition earlier held.
