Police rescue two Kidnapped female Female Students in Niger

A near tragedy occurred in Niger state in the early hours of Wednesday as some gunmen numbering about 10, forced their ways into a school compound in Rijau Local Government of the state and abducted two of the female students.
And no sooner that the incident had occurred that the Vice- Principal of the School, ‘Rijau Vocational School’ made a distress call to the authorities of the state Police Command, that some armed men had stormed the school premises through a broken fence and kidnapped two of the female students.
National Wire learnt that on the receipt of the complaint, that the Commissioner of Police Niger state Police Command, Mr. Suberu Muazu quickly called the Command’s Anti- Kidnapping team and other police personnel stationed around there and other identified troubled spots in the Local Government areas and its environs to race to the school to rescue the kidnapped students.
It was further learnt that the Police anti- Kidnapping team and their colleagues elsewhere gave the fleeing hoodlums a hot chase and caught up with them.
Further checks revealed that after a long gun battle between the police ans the yet unidentified gunmen, the police were able to rescue the two girls, while the hoodlums abandoned their operational vehicles and escaped into the bush with bullets injuries.
The Police Public Relations Officer( PPRO) of the Command, DSP, Bala Elkana has confirmed the incidence.
He made the confirmation in a brief interview with our reporter yesterday in Minna, adding that the Command have stationed some of its personnel in the area with a view to combing the bush in order to recover some of the corpses of the hoodlums, while arrests would be made of some of the surviving members of the gang.
Elkana, however enjoined both members of the public and school Operators at Rijau Local Government of the state and its environs to remain calm and go about their Lawful businesses without any fear from any quarters.
He also identified the rescued young school girls as Sarah Danjumah and Martha Daniel,saying that members of the public should remain calm because there is no cause for alarm’.
“Our patrol teams are around the school’s environment and the spot where the police engaged the hoodlums in a gun battle and they are still patrolling the school premises and its immediate environment” said Elkana .
