Mbiama Community’s Paramount Ruler, Marks Coronation Anniversary…Gives Account Of Stewardship

Paramount ruler of Mbiama community, Ahoada-West Local Government Area of Rivers State, HRH Otovie Smith Sylvanus, on Sunday 29th December, 2024 marked his 4th coronation anniversary.

In his opening address, the paramount ruler who rendered an account of his stewardship lauded members of the community’s council of chiefs, elders and opinion leaders for standing by him towards the progress and development of the community.

He promised stronger and fruitful synergy with security agencies, and stakeholders to ensuring lasting peace in the community, saying under his reign as monarch during the past four years the community has made significant progress in various spheres of development.

HRH Sylvanus said chief amongst the progress made was the erecting and extension of concrete electrical poles to all parts of the community, and the replacement and rehabilitation of damaged transformers in parts of the community.

Other achievements recorded under his stewardship according to the royal father were, the opening of internal roads, the award/installation of solar powered street lights by the NDDC in the in the community and curbing of drug abuse to the barest minimum.

His scorecard, according to the monarch also include inter-street and inter-tribal annual football competition to foster unity amongst residents of the community, Scholarship scheme, provision of job opportunities and construction of a mini-event centre in the community, amongst others.

He said: “It’s another joyous occasion for us as a community to express our gratitude to God for leading us thus far despite the challenges and trials.

“On assumption of office, some streets and roads were without electrical poles. These streets and roads were totally cut off from electricity, but today some of these streets and roads like Agbo road and Comrade Inime Wilson Karibo streets now have access to electricity because we’ve been able to plant electrical poles and extended electricity to these areas.

“We discovered that there’s need to open up some of the internal roads and name streets in the community, and as at today about 18 streets have been opened and names given.

“As at today, seven junior secondary school students are on Scholarship scheme which would span throughout their secondary school education. And as a way of empowering our youths, so many are currently working with Setraco Nig. Ltd and five others have been employed as permanent staffs”.

Also speaking, the duo of the Chairman of the occasion and former Chairman, Ahoada-West Local Government Area of the State, Hon Awori Miller, and business mogul, Mr Inime Wilson Karibo described the royal father as an achiever.

They advised indigenes and all residents of the community to form strong synergize with the paramount ruler and his cabinet to maintain the prevailing peace and spate of development in the community.

Highpoints of the event were the unveiling of the 2024/2025 season of the Mbiama community inter-streets/inter-tribal football tournament, and conferment of meritorious awards to select members of the community and others.
