“Technology Key To Unlocking Nigeria’s Prosperity” – Kashifu Inuwa

Kashifu Inuwa, Director General of the National Information Technology Development Agency (NITDA), has emphasized the crucial role of technology in driving economic prosperity in Nigeria.

Speaking at a capacity-building workshop held at FutureMap Academy in Jigawa State, Inuwa urged policymakers to leverage their states’ unique strengths to drive economic growth.

Inuwa highlighted Jigawa’s large pool of computer science graduates as a significant asset, stressing that they could contribute to the state’s development if equipped with the right skills and opportunities.

He also shared personal anecdotes about his journey into computer science and digital transformation, emphasizing the importance of local mentors in inspiring the next generation to explore careers in technology.

The NITDA boss advocated for policies that build remote work competencies among young people, citing success stories of young Nigerians who transitioned to high-paying remote roles with foreign companies.

He also emphasized the need for technology-driven solutions to improve citizens’ lives, showcasing AI’s practical applications in streamlining processes and managing complex tasks.

Huawei reaffirmed its commitment to Nigeria’s digital transformation agenda, particularly in Northern Nigeria, while the Technical Adviser to the Governor of Jigawa State on ICT and Digital Economy, Dr. Rislan Abdulazeez Kanya, underscored the state government’s commitment to fostering innovation and empowering local communities through technology.

The workshop was organized by Future Map Foundation in collaboration with NITDA, Jigawa State, Huawei, Cosmopolitan University, and Open School Initiative.
