Cattle rearers and dealers adherents of the Tijaniyya order of the Islamic ummah in Bayelsa state at the weekend have continued to thank the all mighty Allah(God) with glowing tributes for the life and times of the Holy Prophet Mohammed (S. A. W).
National Wire reports that on Saturday 21st September through Sunday, 22nd, ranchers adherents of the order gathered at the state’s cattle market, Bayelsa palm, Azikoro, Yenagoa to mark the day set aside in the Islamic calendar as the birth date of the Holy Prophet with sermons and merry making.
Speaking to newsmen, Chairman of the state Supreme Council for Islamic Affairs(SCIA), Alhaji Yakubu Otobo thanked Governor of the state, Senator Douye Diri for his peaceful disposition and love for the Islamic ummah in the state.
He noted that Islam was a peaceful religion, hence Moslem faithfuls in Bayelsa will continue to maintain peace, show tolerance and other virtues which were exemplified by the Holy Prophet Mohammed (S. A. W) in his teachings.
He said: “We thank the Islamic ummah for their patience and resilience. We want you to continue towing the path of peaceful coexistence with other religious groups in the state.The birthday of the Holy Prophet is a time for sober reflections”.
Also speaking, the state’s Tijaniyya Khalifah, Alhaji Abdul Ganiyy Yunus noted that the celebration was sacrosanct in the lives of adherents of the order and indeed all moslems globally.
The Khalifah advised moslems to always tow the path of peace and maintain the teachings of the Holy Prophet, saying the Islamic religion preaches peace and tolerance.
His words: “I want to thank the state governor, Senator Douye for creating an enabling atmosphere for moslems to practice their belief in the state. This is a pointer to how much the state governor loves the Islamic ummah. I also want to thank him for being a religious tolerant leader”.
In their separate speeches, the state branch chairman of the Tijaniyya, Alhaji Ibrahim Kuchi, the cattle rearers and dealers association boss, Alhaji Bello Mohammadu and the Secretary of the cattle rearers and dealers association, Alhaji Ali Maiweda restated the need for religious tolerance and harmony amongst religious groups.
The trio said: “This celebration of the Holy Prophet’s birthday is one of the most cherish ideals of Islam. What distinguishes real moslems from others is the ability to emulate and observe as well as practice the teachings of the Holy Prophet Mohammed (S. A. W)”.
