FEC Reshuffle: Group Cautions Against Calls For Lokpobiri’s Sack

A group, the United Young Farmers Forum, (UYFF) Bayelsa State Chapter, have condemned in strong terms the recent calls from some quarters in the Niger Delta region to sack the Minister for Petroleum, Senator Heineken Lokpobiri, describing it as acts of desperation.

The group made the condemnation in Yenagoa, the Bayelsa state capital recently through its State Chairman, Comrade Lucky Ighayan, who is popularly called ‘the Organizer’ during an emergency meeting with some executives and other members over the calls for the Minister’s sack.

UYFF noted that it would not profit anybody to pull down Lokpobiri over his duties on national assignment and that he has not been seen to have neglected his duties or found wanton, stressing that the minister is on a familiar terrain.

UYFF said:”We can’t fold our arms while youths in the region would drag the minister’s name to the mud while they promote others.

“It’s unnecessary, it’s distraction to the region.”

The Bayelsa chapter chairman of the group explained that Lokpobiri had all it takes to man the office of the Minister for Petroleum of the federation, saying that he has been a Speaker, two time Senator, former Minister for Agriculture and now a Minister for Petroleum.

The group leadership added that: “Which better credentials do we want? He is also better educated, exposed and experience. A true Ijaw leader, philanthropic, a freedom fighter, amongst others.

“The minister is also a bridge builder and a round-peg- in a round-hole. Since his assumption of office Senator Lokpobiri has brought forward his knowledge and potential to bear in his tasking office.

“He carries the challenges of the people on his shoulders. His mission is to enrich the lives of all”.

The Niger Delta farmers group called on youths in the region to be calm and sustain the prevailing peace, while also maintaining the cordial relationship that exists amongst themselves.

The UYFF leadership stated that Lokpobiri has not taken any other person’s job, but that it was President Bola Tinubu in his wisdom who appointed him as a minister due to his credentials.

They also commended President Bola Tinubu for his Renewed Hope agenda for the country and prayed God to strengthened him in a good health and wisdom to pilot the affairs of the country to enviably heights.
