Southern Ijaw LG Chair Recommits To Peace, Development

Newly sworn-in Chairman of Southern Ijaw Local Government Area, Hon. Target Segibo reiterated his commitment to the peace, progress and rapid socioeconomic transformation of his local government area.

Segibo who also thanked the State Governor and the leadership of the Peoples Democratic Party(PDP), for founding him and his vice worthy to be elected in the recent local government elections as Chairman and Vice Chairman made the commitment Monday while speaking with newsmen shortly the inauguration of the eight newly elected local government chairmen and their Vice Chairmen by the state Governor, Senator Douye Diri.

He promised the people of the area of his readiness to initiate policies and programmes aimed at the betterment of their lives, noting that markets, health infrastructure and others would be constructed in communities of the council area within the limit of the available resources at the disposal of his administration.

He said: “I want to call on the Southern Ijaw people never to relent on the confidence they reposed on me and my vice chairman which made them cast their votes for us during the recent LGA elections.

“Southern Ijaw people should continue to believe that they’ve in me and my vice chairman good and capable leaders who would bring development and experience to bear in the leadership of the LGA.

“We’ll provide infrastructure to support what the Governor has already done in the LGA. We’ll work for the peace and development of the entire LGA”, he said.

Segibo who called on the Southern Ijaw indigenes and residents to tow the path of peace and progress, also charged the citizens of the council area on the gains associated with hard work and diligence, noting that under his stewardship of the local government he would continue to pursue peace and preach the prosperity mantra to people of the area.
